A STORY, A MISSION

Hi, this is Manal and Robin, husband and wife, global citizens, and social entrepreneurs. Our mission is to bring humans together as one big family with more compassion and love to humankind.
How it all started ?

I, Manal, was born in Morocco. I’ve always been aware of how lucky I am to be raised by an educated family, who supported me to get an education and seek a college degree abroad. By 18, as I moved to France to go to university, I discovered a brand new world with brand new standards. It struck me how normal it was to have access to education, healthcare, decent housing, fair-wage, or even the freedom to travel anywhere. Meanwhile, many people back in my country still struggle with the same issues every single day.

I loved my life in France, I was so grateful for the opportunities I had. However, this life-changing experience has kept me thinking about the enormous disparity between countries around the world.

I, Robin, was born in France from Dutch-French parents. As a European who grew up in a loving well-off family, I became well aware of the privileges it has granted me. It is not the part I am particularly proud of, because I know I was just lucky.

But, I've never felt more grateful thanks to traveling, reading, educating myself, and surrounding myself with inspiring people (like my other half). I’ve become more mindful of the privilege that was handed to me, and that is why I made it my mission to help those who are not.

So how can all human beings have a decent life, regardless of their birthplace or background?
We've been wondering for quite some time: What can two human-beings do to bring inequality to its knees?

This is how Coconut Legacy was born.

Coconut Legacy goes beyond a clothing brand. It embodies an idea, a global citizen movement, which aspires to a better world where all humans are equal, looking after each other as one big family.

Most people around the world are unlikely to be born in the ''lucky places'' aka, the western countries. Accordingly, they are unlikely to benefit from proper education, clean water, food security, freedom of speech, travel, and other HUMAN RIGHTS. Most of these individuals get stuck in the same place for the rest of their lives without being able to improve their situation.

Did you know that the majority of passports prevent people from entering other countries without going through a complex, expensive, and stressful process to apply for a visa? And even with such a financial and emotional investment, there are no guarantees.

I know some might think that it makes sense for ‘’safety reasons’’. But, let that thought sink in for a while. Does it really justify why some people can set foot anywhere in the world when others can't?

And even in these ''modern countries'', a lot of people remain widely disadvantaged because of their skin color, gender, origin, sexual orientation, belief, or last name.

How ridiculous is it to keep going with this length in 2020?

We believe that together we can change this kind of disparities and make our big country, planet Earth, a better place to live for all.

We need to point out that we're definitely not the Saviors coming from western society. We are human beings with our strengths and weaknesses, our hopes and dreams, and uncompromisingly with our HUMAN values.

We need to point out that we're definitely not the Saviors coming from western society. We are human beings with our strength and weakness, our hopes and dreams, and above all, with our uncompromising human values.

We believe that our planet is our big country; it belongs to all human beings. And it makes less and less sense what borders stand for, except for one more privilege that allows some to cross them while it stops others.

Wherever you were born (country, neighborhood, city, or village), it shouldn’t decide the course of your entire life. Every human being should be able to build their future and not only suffer the repercussions of their past.

Everyone deserves the chance to feel free, to enjoy who they are, and to taste the freedom of traveling, moving, and exploring the beauty of our big country, called planet Earth.

We believe that being born in western society (as a white person or in an advantaged family) is pure luck. There is nothing to be proud of unless we support those who the system has left behind. What defines us as human beings are the values we carry rather than nationalities.

Human-beings should be seen for who they are; every member of our big family has dignity, which shouldn’t be oppressed or ignored in any way.

We aspire to a more compassionate world, where humans are equal, united, and loving each other, as families do.

We believe we are all part of one big family called humanity. Although they may have their ups and downs, families help, protect, and love each other.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

We believe in an inclusive world.
We believe that planet Earth is our country, and humans are our family.
We are global citizens. We are not defined by countries, borders, skin color, background, religion, or any other dividing label.

We believe in
FREEDOM
for all,
(no borders discrimination
no racism,
no sexism,
no xenophobia,
no homophobia,
we’re ALL born equal).

GENUINE
HUMAN
POTENTIAL.

There’s good within each one of us!

We believe in
TOLERANCE,

We appreciate everything life has to offer, and every single day, we’re grateful for that.
#INFINTEGRATITUDE

We want to pave the way for those who are overlooked by the system.

We believe that
MAGIC HAPPENS
in life, that
NOTHING IS
IMPOSSIBLE

We are resourceful and creative.
To every challenge,
THERE IS A WAY

KINDNESS
is our
STRENGTH
